Town Nitra

Nitra is a city lying in Nitra region, some 80 kilometres northwest of Bratislava. River of the same name – Nitra – flows through the city, from its northern bank start the slopes of Zobor hill. Together with Trnava, Nitra is one the oldest Slovak towns. Nitra is the 5th largest city in Slovakia.

Nitra´s castle - Nitriansky hrad

Most remarkable and precious sight of Nitra is its castle, standing on a vápenec rock surrounded by the river near the slopes of Zobor. The castle remembers centuries, it´s bound with numerous historical, political and social events and as one of few castles it preserved its functional style despite several uneasy periods.

Agrokomplex

Nitra is the seat of an important exhibition site Agrokomplex where several exhibitions of various industries take place. Among the most visited ones belong: Agrokomplex international agricultural and foodprocessing fair, Autosalón Nitra car exhibition, international machinery fair or furniture exhibition.

Andrej Bagar theatre

Topical and genre brightness of performances mixed with high requirements and attractiveness of stageplay. The plays themselves reflect originality of directors, their personal contribution, aesthetic style and a specific introduction.

For visitors from Slovakia and abroad, theatre festivals are big days. During the last week of September Nitra hosts the International theatre festival Divadelná Nitra. Most significant theatre groups from all Europe take part there.

Arborétum Mlyňany

May and June are the best and most appropriate months to visit the bothanic garden „Arborétum Mlyňany" which belongs among most beautiful gardens of the world. On an area larger than 67ha, grows over 2200 species of trees from all over the world.
